Introduction[]
Launched in Australia in 1999, Hi-5 rapidly grew in popularity over the years. It has won three Logie Awards for Most Outstanding Childrenās Program, five ARIA Awards for Best Childrenās Album and five Australian DVD and Video Industry Awards, among other achievements. It was then that Hi-5 started expanding its reach by franchising the show across North America, Europe, Australasia, Latin America, and Asia. However, this is the first time that the Hi-5 franchise assembled an entirely new cast for the localization of the show in Asia. The Filipino version of the musical group is currently one of the only two casts for Hi-5, with the other one being the Australian cast.
Trivia[]
- Two male members, Gerard and Fred are the only members of the group who are fluent in English although the rest, Rissey, Aira and Alex can speak some English as well.
- Rissey and Alex are cousins according to their surname as 'Reyes'.
- The series reintroduced a few concepts that were no longer used in the original series, such as the series having nine themes, the Body Move Segment having three segments, each week having five Sharing Stories Segment for each day, and the Sharing Stories Segment involving a hidden treasure. All these concepts, except the five stories concept that was last used in Series 11, were last used in Series 13.
- This is the second international version to feature the live-action forms of the members through a mirror in the intro, after Hi-5 Fiesta.
- Not counting the lines 'Hi' and 'Hi-5', Hi-5 Philippines is the only series to have two languages in the intro, one in it's respective language Filipino, and some in English.
- This happens during the counting part, where it was only sang in English.
- It is also a Non-English show where the Songs of the Week are sung in English. Although, the songlets were sung in Filipino.
- Their Christmas song "Happy Kidsmas" is the only adapted Hi-5 original song.
