In the original series (from series 1 to 10) and the American series, after every single segment except Sharing Stories, there were kids doing an activity similar to the one seen in the segment. In the TV series, the kids would do it on their own, but in the home videos they would often be seen with one or more Hi-5 members. At the end, the kids (and cast if present) usually say "Hi-5!" whilst holding up the palms of their hands at the camera, mimicking the high-five gesture as well as the Hi-5 logo.
A framework related to either the week theme or the home video is put around the screen, except for the first two original series where it was a pointy yellow frame. From series 11 to 17, the kids were still shown after the segments, just without a framework. In the British version, there was a frame colour for each segment.
